Last Sunday OPT Newcastle held the very first $20,000 GUARANTEED East Coast Poker Championship event. A strong field of 114 players attended creating a prize pool of just under $23,000, easily smashing the $20K guarantee that was on offer.  After 12 hours of play, Mayfield regular and father of 5 children Tim Ayers rose above the pack to dominate the final table and claim victory. Tim pocketed $7,500 for his efforts! Well done Tim! 
In 2nd place was Bob Skavinski who frequents Dungog Memorial Bowling Club most Tuesday nights. This is just another strong performance in a chain of great results for Bob. Bob recently competed in both the UPT $30K Main Event and also the $40K (2 day) final. Bob picked up a cool $4,500 for his 2nd place finish. 
In 3rd place was Andrew Caltabiano. Andrew travelled all the way down from Port Macquarie to compete and soon discovered it was well worth the trip. I am sure his $2,800 3rd place cheque will be spent wisely! Thanks for your support Andrew and very well done indeed!  The talk of the afternoon revolved around OPT veteran Lance Roulston. Lance got himself into a seemingly unbeatable position with 19 remaining players amassing over 15% of the chips in play. Unfortunatly for Lance his position was only seemingly unbeatable and finished in 11th position claiming the bubble! In true "Rebuy Roulston" fashion though, Lance was not at all discouraged and backed up on Tuesday night at the Gunyah Hotel showing consistancy finishing just off the bubble once again. The next $20,000 ECPC event is locked in for October 24th, and once again we will be giving away a minimum of 4x $220 entry seats every Sunday at 2pm @ Mayfield Diggers! Oz Poker Tour and Ultimate Poker Tour have joined forces effective immediately. The combined Ultimate Poker Tour along with oz Poker Tour will operate in excess of 200 poker games a week with players competing for $70,000 in the current season.
